One of the most
charming places of the outside Mani is Kardamili, about 40 km
southeast of Kalamata. The immense walls of Taygetos Mountain that
rise directly from the sea are a great frame for the picturesque
village. The houses built of the traditional stone used in this area
complete the harmonic picture. In the small village you can find
various taverns, Kafenia, Souvenir shops, 2 very well sorted
Minimarkets and a bank (open 1-2 times a week) with money machine.
The long pebble
stone beach is about 800 m north of the village located. The area
has a variety of well marked hiking trails that lead you into the
beautiful mountain area.
